Helping Thunderbird users in the UK - adding ISPs to Thunderbird's database
When we released Thunderbird 3 at the end of last year, we included a new account configuration system - Thunderbird 3 would go and look in a database for your ISP's configuration.
This is aimed at making a user's account set-up much easier, just enter name, email and password, and the account gets set up correctly for you.
How we need help
The database needs a bit of filling out, we need configuration details being obtained and/or tested and then supplying to us. Of the UK ISPs we need configurations for, the following account for somewhere around five hundred hits a day on our database:
btinternet.com, ntlworld.com, talktalk.net, tiscali.co.uk, blueyonder.co.uk
Getting these ISP configurations into our database would help lots of UK users quickly set up their accounts each day.
What to do - Verify an already provided configuration
These ISP configurations need confirming:
Then go to the linked page, verify the data, and select the see XML version link. Save that XML, then follow the steps here (skipping steps 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3), attaching your saved XML to the bug that you create.
What to do - Supply a configuration
- btinternet.com
- tiscali.co.uk
Then just follow the process to get the ISP added.
What to do - my ISP isn't listed above!
It doesn't matter, just follow the process to get your ISP added.
